Dr. Kapoor Singh took Shri Nathji’s book: The First Rays of Dawn, which contained 365 thoughts for peace of mind–a thought for each day of the year–to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, the President of India and said to him: This book has been written by a Great Spiritual Soul!
Sardar Kapoor Singh also took the book with him on his visit to the U. S. A. and gave it to various people there, urging them to meditate upon the thoughts contained therein.
A tragic incident befell him when one of his beloved sons passed away. He came to Shri Nathji, a deeply grieved person. And as Shri Nathji spoke to him, his grief burst out in a flood of tears, and disappeared from his soul, even as Shri Nathji’s arms went out to embrace him.
Shri Nathji narrated a similar episode in the life of Guru Gobind Singh. When his sons were killed, tears came into his eyes. His devotees wondered why an Enlightened Soul should be in grief, and he said: Look at this leaf on the branch. When I pluck it off, its stem becomes wet. Nature has endowed even the vegetation with this much of feeling. Therefore, if you see tears in my eyes, you should not be surprised. It is a natural law. Lord Rama had wept in the forests when Sita Maharani was gone, and also when his brother, Laxman, had been wounded.
By the time Shri Nathji had finished speaking to Sardar Kapoor Singh, he was a different man. The verse of Shri Nathji was echoing in his heart, even as Shri Nathji’s hand carried a cup of tea to him:
“Jaame za mai baaki az daste khushe Saaki
Baa kasrate mushtaaqi mi joyomo mi raksam!

I take the Cup of Eternal Wine from the beautiful hands of the Saki,
With manifold joy I beg of it, and then begin to dance!”

As the years had passed by, Dr. Kapoor Singh found his memory failing him. It was as if the past were being shut out.
I am forgetting everything, he said to Shri Nathji.
You might forget everything, said Shri Nathji, but you can never forget your Eternal Friend! Usko naheen bhoole!
No, said Dr. Kapoor Singh, I can never forget Him! And he bent down and touched Shri Nathji’s feet. Shri Nathji said:

“Le aaeene ko haathh men aur baar baar dekh
Soorat men apni soorate parvar digaar dekh.

Take this mirror in thy hand, and look within it, again and again.
See the face of the Creator within this face of thine!”

And Shri Nathji would say:

Ai mudaaeeye vaihdat ye maaoman kahaan ki
Yaa to kaih de main hee main hoon, yaa to kaih de too hee too hai

O thou, who art boasting of Reality, wherefrom comes this I and mine?
Either say, ‘it is me and only me,’
Or say, ‘it is Thee and only Thee’.

The remembrance of God takes away all other remembrances; to forget the world is to remember Him! Shri Nathji said, There is no place for duality here! Go away! Either thou should remain or I!
