Shri Nathji was staying with Bhutt at 40 Lodi Road. It was in the month of March 1952, the occasion of Shivratri, the birthday of Lord Shankar, that a most unusual scene was witnessed by the devotees at 40 Lodi Road.
A certain Shri Sohan Lal Khosla, an old devotee from Lahore, was singing a song especially composed by him for the occasion.
For the devotees of Shri Nathji, Shivratri was a special day–another birthday of their Lord and Master, Bhola Nath.
Ram Naavmi, Janamashtmi were also special days. Shri Nathji had been born on earth as Rama and Krishna.
Time would come when the world would celebrate June 23 as the day the Kalki Avatar was born on earth, in the twentieth century.
On Shivratri, as on June 23, Shri Sohan Lal would get up and perform a dance as he sang:
Aaj Prabhuji Kaa Janam divas hai
Aao naachen raas men
Today is the Birthday of our Lord;
Let us join together in dance,
Vishnu Naache Brahma naache
Shiv naache Kailaash men
Vishnu is dancing, Brahma is dancing,
And Shiva is dancing in Kailash
Other devotees would get up, and all of them join hands and move around slowly in a ring, as Shri Sohan Lal sang in loud discordant notes. Shri Nathji would sit in a chair, his eyes closed in meditation.
If ever Shri Nathji meditated, his meditation would be different from that of saints, sages, or mahatmas. Whilst the latter meditated upon God, Shri Nathji would meditate upon the people of the world.
On that particular occasion, whilst his devotees were dancing in front of him, Shri Nathji was filled with a divine movement. It was as if the song of his devotees had reached his Real Inner Self.
Suddenly, he got up from his chair, his eyes still closed, and, joining hands with his devotees, began dancing!
It was an unforgettable sight. Lord Shankar had come down to earth and was dancing in the midst of mortals. It was a dance of joy. The Unlimited Ocean had been moved, and its waves swaying in all directions.
