Dr. Kean said to Shri Nathji: Your Holiness, your ways and ours are different. We are progressing on a material path, yours is a spiritual one!
And Shri Nathji said:
It matters little, if the final goal be the same. All the different paths that men are walking upon are like the radii of a circle. Starting from the common circumference, all the radii lead to the same centre! Thus, the different paths stand united in a greater sense!
Will you be returning to India? Dr. Kean asked him.
Yes, said Shri Nathji.
You will be leaving a rich country and going to a poor one, said Dr. Kean.
Yes, said Shri Nathji, that is proof enough of my richness! You have means to satiate numerous desires, and I have no desires within myself. My richness lies in this that I have no desire for richness. I have a regard for your richness, but no desire for it! If I were to desire to become rich, I would make myself poor!
Dr. Kean had been greatly impressed by Priya Nath and had said to him: You are the only honest Indian I have ever met! After meeting Shri Nathji this impression was greatly confirmed. Shri Nathji had been exactly like Priya Nath had described him.
The meeting was to be the first and the last one. Shri Nathji never went to Watch Hill again, even though Dr. Kean had invited him to come whenever he wished. It was this aspect of Shri Nathji that astonished everyone. He had no motive within him whenever he met anyone. To the millionaires, long accustomed to people seeking favours, Shri Nathji’s indifference to wealth came as a startling revelation. It was not only an indifference to wealth; it was indifference in toto to everything they had to offer. After all, who could give the Giver? The wealth of the world belonged to him.
As Shri Nathji would say:

Peeta hoon noor har dam jaame saroor paiham
Hai aasmaa pyaalaa vo sharaabe noor vaalaa

I drink of Light forever from the cup of Bliss
The sky is the vessel of my radiant wine above

Haathi, ghulaam, ghorre, zevar, zameen jorre
Le jo hai jisko bhaataa, maange bagair daataa

Elephants and horses, slaves and lands and gold,
Come take what thou willst, for the giver giveth unasked!
