Shri Nathji would enjoy the daal that Priya Nath made, calling it incomparable, and saying: “Log isse ungliyen chaat kar khaayen! People would lick their fingers if they tasted it!”
And this was despite the fact that Priya Nath merely put salt and white onion in the daal, with no other seasoning. Yet, there was an indescribable taste to the daal, which was yet another one of Shri Nathji’s miracles.
Shri Nathji would always say that there was something divine about Priya Nath’s cooking. It was the food of the Gods. The fact was that each and every food that Priya Nath made in the kitchen was full with the feelings of his heart, that Shri Nathji should get well. And his sincere prayers were being heard by Shri Nathji.
His food had become like a medicine for Shri Nathji. Indeed Priya Nath continued to cook for Shri Nathji for two years continuously thereafter. Shri Nathji would always praise that period of Priya Nath’s devotion and say:
“Aagar hamne ek pulkaa khaayaa to inhonen bhee ek hee khaayaa.
“If I took one chappaati he, too, took but one chappaati!”
Shri Nathji would also say:
“When I would press him to eat more he would say: ‘How can I swallow the food when it refuses to go down?’ He served me like no son ever served his father. He cooked the food and washed the dishes himself even though servants were present in the house. He would not let anyone else enter the kitchen. And it was his cooking that eventually restored me to good health.”
