Nawab Istafa Khan travelled to Amritsar from Lucknow, once, to secure the darshan of Shri Babaji Maharaj who had continued to reside there up to 1934.
On this trip to the darbaar of Shri Babaji Maharaj, Istafa Khan brought numerous gifts for the members of the household of Shri Babaji Maharaj. After having displayed the gifts for various persons, Istafa Khan said to Shri Babaji Maharaj:
Aur Huzoor ke liye main haazir huaa hoon! Kabool farmaayiye!
“And, for your Lordship, I have brought myself! Please accept me!
After paying his respects to Shri Babaji Maharaj, he requested that he be allowed to recite a Persian Verse he had composed as an eulogy to Shri Babaji Maharaj. Shri Babaji Maharaj, who preferred to sit in silence, allowed the young poet to recite his verse. At the end of his recitation Shri Babaji Maharaj turned to Shri Nathji and said:
This young man’s face appears to glow with your spiritual light…
