Shri Nathji had returned to a different Mussoorie, and, indeed, to a different India. The shades of materialism were stronger now than they had ever been before. The newly rich had little need of spiritual values. The young were aping the West, quite unaware that the West was turning to the East for spirituality. The four-year absence of Shri Nathji from India had robbed India of a large part of its spirituality.
