There was the tall Jaat from the Punjab, Sardar Bagga Singh, who would take Shri Nathji frequently in his taxi. He would also serve as his attendant during the trip and fetch things for him. One day he narrated his plight to Shri Nathji. He had six girls, and not a single son.
My wife says I must ask for your blessings, he said to Shri Nathji, and you must also grace my house, and eat paraathaas made in fresh ghee, and drink a hot glass of milk!
Shri Nathji–who had let twenty years pass before accepting the invitation of men like Maharaja Indore–accepted the invitation of the poor taxi driver and went to his house, though he did not eat the paraathaas or drink the hot milk offered, because he was on diet.
Some time later, there was jubilation at the taxi stand as Bagga Singh had a son! Bagga Singh would never forget this episode and would narrate it to all his fellow cabmen and passengers.
We regard Shri Nathji as Bhagwan! he would say.
The taxi drivers developed a great faith in Shri Nathji and became devoted to him. We are your army, they used to say, use us at any time of the day or night!
Shri Nathji would frequently send them sweets as ‘prasaad’ at the Taxi Stand on his birthdays, and they would all eagerly wait for the day when their number would be called by Shri Nathji.
You have made our taxis blessed, they would say to him.
