When Priya Nath saw the fickle-minded devotion of many devotees, who would be all too eager to come to Shri Nathji to have their problems resolved, to derive peace and happiness from Shri Nathji, to live with him at their own convenience, and then simply run away when their interests beckoned them, he came to the conclusion that it was absolutely essential for him to be with Shri Nathji all the time.
He resolved then, never to leave him, even for a minute, and he carried that resolution through for as long as Shri Nathji was upon the planet earth.
No one was ever so constantly with Shri Nathji as Priya Nath. It became the latter’s mission in life to serve Shri Nathji and to be by his side, every minute of the day and night.  It was an instinctive feeling within him. It was as if he had been born for this, as if this was his only mission in life. It was as if Mateshwari had entered within him and was making him look after Shri Nathji.
Having already lost Mateshwari, the thought of losing Shri Nathji was unthinkable for Priya Nath. There was no world outside of Shri Nathji for him His Ph.D subject was no longer nuclear physics – it was Shri Nathji.
Shri Nathji, on his part, continued to play the role of a perfect father to perfection. He would urge Priya Nath to return to Harvard and to pursue his career in America. He would tell Priya Nath to not to worry about him saying:

“Meraa kyaa hai, mujhe to koyi naukar bhee samhaal legaa! Maine to apni umar bhog lee hai. Ab to aap kaa rise karne kaa vakt hai!”

“Don’t worry about me; even a servant can take care of me! I have spent my life anyway, this is the time for you to rise in your worldly career.”

But Priya Nath would never be convinced. He would even quarrel with Shri Nathji whenever Shri Nathji would ask him to return to America. He had decided to stick to his resolve, come what may. He fretted leaving Shri Nathji alone for even a moment. How could he ever think of leaving him alone for days, months and years?
The lure of the material world had no meaning for him. He felt that he had wasted four years at Harvard. These four years should have been spent with Shri Nathji and Mateshwari. Maybe Mateshwari may not have died if he had been there with her. He felt very guilty many times about going away to America, leaving Shri Nathji, Mateshwari and Pran Nath alone in London to live in such difficulties, with both Pran Nath and Mateshwari ill. Priya Nath could never forgive himself for it. And he was not going to repeat the same mistake a second time. Many were the persons who urged Priya Nath to return to America to pursue his career, and to take up his job there, which he had left in 1967 when Mateshwari passed away.
