A certain Minister of the government came for Shri Nathji’s darshan, and Shri Nathji said to him:
“You have such a nice car. The chauffeur is an expert. There is a flag flying on the car to give you status. But, alas! If the car is going in the wrong direction, of what use would all these things be?”
Shri Nathji was stating a universal truth:
“If the material possessions of the world make one forget God, then indeed they have not served their purpose. On the other hand if they take one towards God, then they are truly blessed.
“The golden Lanka of Ravana was dreadful, because it took him away from Rama. But it became blessed when it was in the hands of Vibheeshana who was a devotee of Lord Rama, and who knew that it had been granted to him by Lord Rama.
When you take all your material possessions as being gifts from God they become blessed. They cannot lead you astray but will rather lead you to Him.”
