Once a person came to Shri Nathji and asked him: “Why did God create the world?
Shri Nathji replied: “Are you putting this question to a man or to God?”
The person said: “Your physical form is that of a man.”
And Shri Nathji said: “What can a man know of the designs of God? It would have been better if you had put that question to God Himself! Before the creation of the world there was no man. He came into existence after creation. So how can he know what the intentions of God were before creation? “
The person said: “But, Sir, you are so close to God. He must have revealed to you why He created the world!”
Shri Nathji said: “Even if He did, the fact remains that he concealed it from you. And if I were to reveal it to you, would I not be going against his wishes?”
The man was disconsolate: “ Does this mean I shall never know?”
Shri Nathji said: “Yes, there is a way. You can also become close to Him, and perhaps He will reveal it to you!”
Shri Nathji continued: “But a strange thing will happen when you reach God –the world will disappear. And when you put the question to God, He will say: ‘There is no world here. Here there is only ME!’”
