Mahatma Sita Ram Sharan of Chitrakoot – who had recognized Shri Nathji to be Lord Rama upon earth when he beheld him for the first time in 1942 at Allahabad on the banks of the Triveni – came for Shri Nathji’s darshan at Shadi Bhavan along with his disciples. The presence of Shri Nathji was too powerful a sight for Mahatma Sita Ram Sharan to bear. He lost consciousness of his body. He knew he was in the presence of God Himself. He was a jeweller who had recognized a diamond.
Shri Nathji had often said:
“Heere ki paihchaan kissko hoti hai? Jauhari ko. Ek Lauhaar kyaa usse samajh sakegaa!

“Who will recognize a diamond? Only a jeweller. What can a blacksmith know about its worth?

“If a jeweller calls a certain stone a diamond the whole world will come to accept his words!”
Mahatma Sita Ram Sharan would think of himself like a little child before his father. He could understand the divinity of Shri Nathji and yet he could not fathom all of it, and indeed, never thought he would be capable of understanding it at any time in his life. He would address Shri Nathji with the words:

“He Nathon ke Nath! He praanon ke praan! Kul atmaaon ki atmaa! He bramhaand ke rachayitaa! He Ishwaron ke Ishwar! Saari srishtee ki rachnaa karne vaale Nath!
“Tumhee sansaar men yug yug men avatar lekar aate ho! Tumhee Rama ho! Tumhee Krishna ho! Tumhee Shanker Bhole Nath! Aap ki leelaa ko jeev naheen samajh sakte!

“O Thou Lord of all Lords! The Life of life itself! The Soul of all souls! Thou the Creator of the Universe! Thou the God of all gods. Thou who hast created all of creation.
“Thou who cometh into this world from age to age in different human forms! Thou who art Rama! Thou who art Krishna! Thou, who art Lord Shanker Bhole Nath Himself!”

All that Mahatma Sita Ram Sharan wanted from Shri Nathji was a portrait of Shri Nathji to take home with himself to Chirakoot, but as the will of Shri Nathji would have it, there was no portrait in the house at the time and the wish of Mahatma Sita Ram went unfulfilled for some time. He waited at Chitrakoot for the portrait for years before one was finally sent to him. And it was with that portrait clasped to his heart that Mahatma Sita Ram Sharan left the world.
