Shri Nathji had once said:
“When people prayed to God to alleviate their sufferings, the Lord did not know what the word ‘suffering’ meant! This was because, where there was God there was no suffering. God is Sat-Chit-Anand, which means Truth, Consciousness and Bliss. He was perpetually in a state of Bliss. Therefore he could not understand what sorrow and suffering meant. He did not know how to answer the prayers of man. Therefore, he decided to come down to earth in human form to experience the sorrow and suffering upon earth, so that he would be better disposed to remove it for man! Here was another reason for the Advent of God upon earth!”
Shri Nathji had given an entirely new explanation for the Advent of God upon earth, which had not been set down so explicitly in the faiths of the world.
It was the prayer of Sahadeva Tayal that had made Shri Nathji perform a miracle for Priya Nath. Had Sahadeva Tayal not prayed so fervently to Shri Nathji to the extent of asking that the life of his son be taken in exchange for the life of Priya Nath, Shri Nathji may not have used his divine power in the manner he did. Shri Nathji could not refuse to answer the earnest prayers of anyone in the world. It was for that reason that Priya Nath had recovered miraculously, despite a hopeless medical prognosis. Sahadeva’s son, Bedu, also remained perfectly all right.
Shri Nathji recollected how once R.R.Khanna had said to him:
“Huzoor give everything in the world to Pran Nathji and Priya Nathji!”
And Shri Nathji immediately said:
“Tumhaare bachchon ko kyon na de den! Why should I not give it to your children instead!”
And that was what happened in the future, when Khanna’s sons became crorepatis-millionaires, causing Mateshwari to say many a time to Shri Nathji that he had given everything to Khanna’s sons, but ignored his own.
Shri Nathji never forgot even the slightest gesture of courtesy or affection offered by anyone. The Mother Superior of Hampton Court, Mother St. Clare, had expressed her concern about Priya Nath’s illness, and Shri Nathji had been so touched by her sympathy that he had written back to her:
“Dear Madam,
Very many thanks for your letter of sympathy that I received yesterday. Dear Priya has been suffering from Typhoid and Bronchitis and so has grown very weak. We all hope he will be all right soon by your true and sincere prayers to the Almighty. We are again very grateful and feel much obliged to you for your sympathy and affectionate feelings towards the child and towards us.
With Love and Blessings,
Yours Sincerely,
Swami Bhola Nath
