By the 10th of June 1947, Shri Nathji had shifted to Kahkashan.
Shri Nathji had an old association with the house. He had lived there in 1933, 1934 and 1935-36, when Nawab Istafa Khan was its owner. Istafa Khan had always given the house free of rent to Shri Nathji. He could never think of accepting rent from Shri Nathji.
In 1947,however, Nawab Istafa Khan was no longer in Mussoorie, and Shri Nathji took the house on rent from a certain K.H. Jani.
It was in 1936 at Kahkashan that the Britisher Hasellwright had found Shri Nathji after seeing him in a dream six months earlier.
It was here, in 1935, that Justice Abbas Ali Tyyab of the Baroda High Court became greatly devoted to Shri Nathji, and his daughter, Rehana, saw Shri Nathji as the Lord of the Universe in a blazing orb of light.
It was while Shri Nathji was at Kahkashan that Sir Sultan Ahmad, the member of the Executive Council of the Viceroy of India, had offered his home for the birthday celebrations of Shri Nathji.
It was in this house that many a spiritual revelation and many a miracle had been witnessed by those who came to Shri Nathji.
There was the small porch and verandah of Kahkashan, which was alongside the Spring Road.
Shri Nathji often sat there and had tea in the afternoons. There were two bedrooms in the house. Shri Nathji had a servant, Ramu, by name, who had great faith in the divinity of Shri Nathji and tended to the children very affectionately. The servant, in part, took over the duties of Basant Singh, inasfar as looking after the children was concerned, though of course it was impossible for him to take over the role of the loyal Sardar who had managed Shri Nathji’s house so beautifully over the years.
Shri Nathji’s loyal devotee, Sahadeva, had again come to live with him for some time. He had brought with him his small son, whom he affectionately called Bedu.
When Sahadeva saw how seriously ill Priya Nath had become, he prayed to Shri Nathji with tears in his eyes:

“Huzoor, Bedu kee jaan le lo aur Priyaji ko thheek kar do!

“Sire, take the life of Bedu but cure Priyaji!”

Shri Nathji never forgot these words of his dear Sahadeva. He would recount them before people for years afterwards.
Shri Nathji was so moved by Sahadeva’s supplication that he used his divine powers to cure Priya Nath. When all medicines and tonics appeared to be failing, a new life appeared to come into Priya Nath. It was the new life granted by Shri Nathji. Slowly and surely, Priya Nath regained his health and was completely cured after some time.
There was the Persian Verse Shri Nathji frequently recited:

Kushtagaane khanjare tasleem raa
Har zamaan az gaib jaane deegarast

For those who have died with the sword of His Will,
A new life comes every moment, from a direction Unknown.

Shri Nathji was not one to perform a miracle for himself or for anyone in his family. Having come as a human upon earth, he allowed all physical travails to come to him and his family, just like they would come to any ordinary human being.
Priya Nath had a unique destiny waiting for him. He was to play a vital role in the life and mission of Shri Nathji in the years that were to come. His part on the stage of life was not yet over. He had to recover to fulfil the task he was to do in life.
The name of Priya Nath, as shown in his janam patri, and given to him by the astrologer-pandit was Chaitanya Nath.  This was the name that was initially written in the records of Hampton Court School.
Mateshwari always compared his name with that of the legendary saint, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, and some thought he was his incarnation.
However, he was called Priya Nath at home, a name his maternal grandfather, Lala Hargopal Khanna, had given him rather casually on one occasion, when he saw the babe and said to him: “Hello, Mr. Priya Nath!”
In later years, specifically in September 1948, the name of Priya Nath was changed in the school records to Priya Nath, and very soon Chaitanya Nath was forgotten altogether.
Jagatmataji, who had held the babe in her arms soon after his birth, had said of him that he was Shri Babaji Maharaj re-born:

“Ye Babaji phir aa gaye! Inkee cheebaah par Saraswati kaa nivaas hai. Inn jaisaa bolne vaalaa koyi naheen hogaa!

“He is Babaji come again. The goddess of learning, Saraswati, herself resides on his tongue. He shall be an unparalleled speaker.”
