Shri Nathji had often said: “ I never wish ill upon anyone. I do not punish. But the inexorable Law of Nature must take its course. Law kaam kar jaataa hai!”
Sukhdev lost his flat and was ignominiously discharged from the Air Force. He was stricken with an attack of paralysis that left him invalid for many months. All these things would never have happened if he had remained staunch in his faith and devotion to Shri Nathji. He could have borne even the worst storms of life with equanimity if he had remained under the shelter of Shri Nathji.
He sent word to Shri Nathji through a Sindhi friend that he be forgiven for his grave sins against his Master. Shri Nathji was greatly pained to learn of the plight of Sukhdev and sent his blessings to alleviate his misery.
Soon after, Shri Ram Lal’s business collapsed, his factory shut down. He had been manufacturing a tea known as ‘Golden Drinks’, which had a golden brown colour. It was considered to be injurious to health and was thereafter banned.
He became a humbled man, and had to set up a small food-store to make ends meet. His body became a prey to illness and disease.
Shri Ram Lal never forgave himself for the betrayal of his Lord and Master whom he had accepted as God. He would slap himself on his face whenever he came before Shri Nathji. However his faith in Shri Nathji did not lessen by the experience.
Shri Nathji’s Persian words were coming true:

Az mafaakaate amal gaafil ma shau
Gandam az gandam baroyad jaz za jau

Be not ignorant of the fruits of Karma
Wheat sown shall give wheat and Barley sown, Barley
You shall reap what you sow, they say,
And every cause must bring forth its sure effect
Good, good, and bad, bad
And none escape the law!

Indeed, those who were punished by the invisible hand of God, before it was too late, were the lucky ones. The punishment came to the body while the soul was liberated of its sin. Those, whom God did not punish, were lost to the devil forever.
Shri Nathji would say:
Come to me – in whatever state you are! Let me wash away your sins! You may commit mistakes, only do not make the mistake of going away, forever. For then I shall have no opportunity to correct you. You will then be before the world, which will point out your mistakes! How fortunate is the person who gets a tutor for free to correct him.”
“In a way it is good that a man errs. It keeps him humble before God. If a person were never to make a mistake, he would be filled with pride and might even begin to equate himself with God!”

“Bhagwan bhakt se khud galti karvaa lete hain taaki vo Bhagwan ke saamne har vakt sar jhukaa kar rahe!

As Kasturilal would say to Shri Nathji:

Gunahgaaron ko apnaa liyaa
Apnaa ke apnaa banaa liyaa

You brought the sinners to yourself,
And you made them your own!
