When Shri Nathji was in Bombay in 1948, he had recorded his voice on Gramophone records. The result was the Rangrez Story–the story of the Dyer, in Shri Nathji’s voice.
It was Shri Nathji’s sincere desire that Mateshwari’s sacred voice be recorded as well. And thus it was that Shri Nathji and Mateshwari went to the recording studios in February 1951 as well.
Mateshwari sang her bhajan, “Prabhu mere sharan teri main aayaa”, which was recorded on one side of the record, in a soulful touching voice that went to the hearts of the listeners. Though the song was recorded without any musical accompaniment, yet the silence that accompanied Mateshwari’s singing contained the music of the ages.
Immediately after the song, there was Shri Nathji’s voice explaining the meaning of Mateshwari’s words.
The other side of the record had Shri Nathji’s three-minute message “Jeevan Sandesh”– ”A Message of Life”.
The pictures printed on the record were the ones taken at Akola. Shri Nathji was in a turban and Mateshwari in her usual saree. These pictures were also later printed in Shri Nathji’s book Atma Vijay Part 2. They adorned the home of many a devotee and were the solace of many a heart.
