Shri Nathji had often said:
“I am like the dry leaf which has no programmes of its own. If you would ask it where it will be tomorrow, it will say, ‘I do not know. Ask the wind.’ In a like manner my programmes are guided solely by the desire of thirsty souls wherever they are.”
Shri Nathji also recited a Persian verse used by Shri Babaji Maharaj on the same theme:

Rishtaye dar gardanam afgandaa dost
Mi burad har jaa ke khaatir khaaye ost

My Eternal Friend has thrown a string around my neck
And leads me wheresoever He wills.

However, in the case of Shri Babaji Maharaj the prime mover was the Divine Will, whereas, in the case of Shri Nathji, the prime mover was the desire of the devotees, since the Divine Will was His own.
Sardar Harbhajan Singh Chopra had sent Shri Bajpai to bring Shri Nathji to Allahabad, and Shri Nathji decided to go.
However, he did not take Mateshwari and the children with him because he felt that the children were happy at Delhi. Shri Nathji also knew that if he went with his entire family to Allahabad he would be inordinately delayed there by the devotees as had happened in 1949, when he had been able to return to Mussoorie only in May 1949, long after the children’s school, Hampton Court, had opened.
Shri Nathji knew that the new school, Allen Memorial, that the boys were now attending, had very strict rules, and that if the boys joined the school late they would be put to serious trouble. He, therefore, decided to go to Allahabad alone, leaving Mateshwari and the children at 37, Lady Harding Road.
Shri Nathji left Delhi for Allahabad in January shortly after the New Year 1953. The devotees of Allahabad found themselves in heaven even as Shri Nathji arrived at 6 Auckland Road, the house of Sardar Harbhajan Singh Chopra. It was now the turn of this dwelling place upon earth to turn into an abode of the Lord upon earth.
The entire Chopra family served Shri Nathji with their own hands while the multitudes flooded their house day and night for his darshan and blessings. So great were the number of miracles that attended Shri Nathji’s presence that people had lost count.
It was natural for any person to assume that all his troubles in life would disappear the moment he came before Shri Nathji. The number of people that Shri Nathji released from sorrow and suffering in these gatherings was legend.
There was that same unending flow of divine words that took people to another plane where space and time did not exist, and night turned into day, and day into night, as people sat before Shri Nathji, lost completely in him.
However, this time their happiness was subdued because they knew that Shri Nathji had left Mateshwari behind at Delhi and would have to return very soon.
Albeit Shri Nathji celebrated the birthday of Shri Babaji Maharaj at Allahabad on the 21st of January 1953 and left soon thereafter, the words of his devotees’ bhajan ringing in his heart:

Ai Nathji hamse bichharr chale,
Ik prem sandeshaa chhor chale

Nathji is separating from us,
Leaving behind His Message of Love
