Shri Nathji would always invite sellers of bangles in the house whenever he would hear the call: “Choorrivaalaa!” and see the men carrying their bundles. He would inform Mateshwari upstairs of the arrival of the choorrivaalas and then take a chair in the sunshine and sit and watch as the men showed bangles of multicoloured glass to Mateshwari. Mateshwari would try them on and then choose the simplest of designs. She rarely wore more than two bangles on each wrist. She went through the exercise of choosing the bangles only to please Shri Nathji. Shri Nathji loved shopping whether from shops or from door to door vendors of goods.
