Veeran Devi, the widowed elder sister of Mateshwari, was the only one to have lived for long periods with Mateshwari ever since her marriage to Shri Nathji. She was like a grandmother to the children and had a large part to play in their bringing up.
In July 1953, Sri Krishen Khanna wrote to Mateshwari from Amritsar that he had been transferred out of Delhi and that Lala Hargopal was all alone in his Delhi home at 4/20 East East Patel Nagar, and, therefore, Veeran Devi was needed to live with him.
And it was thus that Veeran Devi’s stay with Shri Nathji and Mateshwari came to an end, at least for a while ,and she departed to New Delhi to live with her father, Lala Hargopal Khanna.
