At Lodi Road the boys were seen playing with their favourite white Alsatian dog, Pluto, which they had brought with them from Mussoorie.
Shri Nathji had especially selected the white Alsatian after being told that it was a rare breed of dogs. The boys had fallen in love with it and named it Pluto after their Mickey Mouse comic book characters. The dog was just a little pup at the time when it had been bought at Mussoorie, and was so small that it had barely begun to open its eyes.
Shri Nathji seemed to know all about dogs and would advise that Pluto be given milk to suck on cotton swabs so that it would think it was suckling its mother’s milk. And the suggestion had worked beautifully.
Shri Nathji and Mateshwari would also hold the little pup in their laps and cuddle it with love. The pup seemed to bring a new feeling of joy into the house.
It was some old devotee of Shri Nathji come into his home in the form of a dog. Shri Nathji would playfully tickle the stomach of the pup with his foot as the pup rolled over on its back before him. Shri Nathji always said that dogs loved being tickled on their tummies.
Pran Nath and Priya Nath had brought the pup with them to Delhi and the boys enjoyed running around in the lawn at Lodi Road with Pluto.
The only person who was unhappy about the dog was Mrs. Gangabai Bhutt who was a cat lover herself and had a small cat in the house. As a consequence, there were always conflicts between the boys and Mrs. Bhutt. There were occasions when the dog would relieve himself in their rooms and this would add to the chaos.
