The cars were locked up in secure garages. Shri Nathji had to make a tremendous effort for this. A servant, Jodh Singh, was engaged by Shri Nathji to accompany them to Allahabad. Shyam Singh chowkidar was called to live at Savitri Nivas during the absence of Shri Nathji. Tiger, Mateshwari’s dog, was left with Shyam Singh chowkidar.
All the doors and windows of Savitri Nivas were locked securely, and the final lock was placed on the verandah of the house. Shri Nathji, Mateshwari, Pran Nath and Priya Nath, made their way to Library Bus Stand where a taxi was waiting to take them to Dehra Dun.
As Shri Nathji, Mateshwari, Pran Nath and Priya Nath, sat in the taxi that wound its way down the hill road that led to Dehra Dun, Shri Nathji raised his hands in a gesture of farewell towards the mountains of Mussoorie.
Slowly the car reached that one solitary bend in the hill road from which they could get a last glimpse of their home, Savitri Nivas. This bend in the road had always been an emotional one for them. It was the one point along the journey when they bade farewell to the house they lived in. “Thanks for the Visit”, said a board put up by the Mussoorie Municipality.
