It was Shri Nathji’s wish to join the ranks of the thousands of anxious parents in the world who sought to get their children admitted into Universities of their choice. Pran Nath had completed his Inter-Science, also known as F.Sc., from St. George’s College, and the results were out in June 1957. Shri Nathji, thereafter, sought to get him admitted to Delhi University, which was the closest to Mussoorie.
Shri Nathji himself prepared copies of the marksheets and the academic records of Pran Nath, writing and typing meticulously in detail each and every fact and figure. It was a very difficult and painstaking task for Shri Nathji, the more so because of the trouble in his right arm, which he used for writing and typing.
No father in the world would have gone to so much pain and effort for his children as Shri Nathji had done. He called for the application forms from Delhi University through Sri Krishen Khanna who was living in Delhi those days. Pran Nath filled in the application forms and these were posted to Delhi. However, just because the application forms reached Delhi one day late, he was refused admission.
This came as a very great shock to Shri Nathji, and he immediately went down to Delhi to meet the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, Shri V.K.R. Rao.
Shri Nathji stayed at the house of his devotee, Shri Krishna Dutta, at 13, Barakhamba Road, where he showered his divine grace upon the family. The weather was hot and humid, and Shri Nathji fell ill with a viral infection. However, he continued to meet people for hours on end, and to climb up and down the stairs to his room, despite the protests from the Dutta family. Krishna Dutta’s mother was so impressed that she said to Shri Nathji:
“Maharaj your endurance is superhuman. It can only be divine. We ordinary folk cannot even get out of bed in fever. We had a great reverence for you before, and knew you were very great–but the real extent of your greatness was only understood by us after we had the honour of serving you with our own hands directly!
Shri Nathji met the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, Shri V.K.R.Rao, at his residence and spoke to him on spiritual themes. He also mentioned Pran Nath’s case and then left.
However, the University remained adamant in refusing the admission because of the application being one day late and there was nothing that the Vice Chancellor could do in the matter, despite his great reverence for Shri Nathji.
It appeared that Shri Nathji’s visit to Delhi was purely to give of his divine nectar to the thirsty souls at Krishna Dutta’s house and his darshan to Shri V.K.R. Rao.
Shri Nathji was experiencing in human form the problems that the common man faced in getting his children admitted into Universities and Colleges.
