There had been a time in Mussoorie when the famous cine actor, Prem Nath, who was a relative of Raj Kapoor, had visited Shri Nathji at his residence at Mussoorie, Savitri Nivas.
He was so struck by the divine beauty of Shri Nathji that he said:
“No actor in the world can compare with your beauty. If you had been in the films the entire world would have flocked to see your astonishing beauty. How I wish I could make a film on your life. Please send me a script so that I can make such a film.”
Shri Nathji did not tell him, but Shri Nathji was the best actor in the whole world. After all, he was God, acting out the part of man. It was a very difficult part in which Shri Nathji had to curtail all his omnipotent powers and reduce himself to the level of helplessness of the human body.
Prem Nath had then sung a tribute to Lord Shankar in the dining room of Savitri Nivas, playing upon Mateshwari’s harmonium. Shri Nathji never found time to send him the script he had asked for.
A popular photographer’s shop in Mussoorie, Doon Studios, at the Majestic Theatre, always kept a glass slide of Shri Nathji and Mateshwari in his showcase. Alongside was a portrait of Prem Nath and his actress wife, Bina Rai.
Shri Nathji loved actors and said they had pure hearts, which was the reason why God had entered within them in the form of Art.
Shri Nathji always said that all artists, whether writers, painters or musicians or actors had a certain purity of heart that attracted God, and it was a result of God’s presence within them that they could influence the lives of thousands and give happiness to them through their art.
Happiness-Anand was the greatest aspect of God who was Sat-Chit-Anand, and if it came in the form of entertainment for the masses, it was a gift from God.
Perhaps it was a measure of Shri Nathji’s blessings upon the world of actors and artists that Bombay came to be renowned as the world’s biggest producer of films.
