Greed got hold of his mind again. The very wealth he had abandoned earlier began to lure him a second time. He approached the ruby, which appeared to sparkle in a little pond.
It was a bubble of red spittle from the mouth of some inveterate beetle-leaf eater! The man was humbled. It was Nature’s rebuke!
