What Shri Nathji had said to the General about his blessings being with him like the invisible air contained a great depth of meaning. It was not always possible for a man to pray for help from God. There were many instances in life when he had no chance to pray.
“When sudden calamities strike, sudden accidents occur, when one is asleep or unconscious, there is no opportunity to pray. Who is it that protects you then? Even your body is not with you when you are asleep. A snake can come and bite you, but you will not be aware of the approach of the snake.
“These are the moments when some divine power helps you, it watches over you and knows of even those calamities which are yet to come. It saves you and protects you in an infinite number of ways of which you are not even aware. It goes on doing its work of safeguarding your existence in an invisible manner –like the air.”
Such was the power of the blessings of Shri Nathji, which gave sustenance to humanity without its even being aware of it.
Of course for this to happen it was necessary for man to establish a relationship with God. Once man had established that relationship, the responsibility of caring for him rested with God. It was like sitting in the boat of a pilot and then letting him drive the boat over the seas while one sat and relaxed. It was the pilot who fought with the waves of the storm.
