The year 1949 passed quickly. Mateshwari’s health was deteriorating in the approaching winter. There was an anxious letter from Shyam Lal Kasera about Mateshwari’s illness and the severe winter, praying to Shri Nathji to come down to the plains.
“You are the Avatar of God come down upon earth to give salvation to mankind. Your body is very precious for the people of the world. Please take care of it as well as that of the Divine Mother, Mateshwari, who is ill in Mussoorie. Please forgive us for our countless sins and shortcomings.”
The children’s school closed on the 15th of November 1949, and Shri Nathji prepared to go down to the plains. He disconnected his telephone No. 281 before he left Mussoorie. It was always a problem finding a reliable chowkidar for the house and this was frequently the cause for the delay in leaving Mussoorie.
Shri Nathji decided to go and stay with the Bhutts at Delhi for a while. And it was thus that he arrived there in his Standard Car along with Mateshwari and the children.
Half of November and the entire month of December 1949, were spent by Shri Nathji at the Bhutt’s new home at 2 Pusa Road which was much more spacious than his previous home at 6/22 Western Extension Area.
Bhutt had now been promoted to Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defence. Despite the fears of Gangabai Bhutt that her husband would be sent back to the Central Provinces, he was given a promotion and kept in Delhi by the Government of India. This again was a miracle of Shri Nathji.
Gangabai Bhutt herself had become intensely busy with organising the Drama she had written on the advent of Shri Nathji upon earth. The drama was called “Divya Darshan” i.e. Divine Glimpses, and presented the life of Shri Nathji with flair and flamboyance. Shri Nathji did not like some portions of the play and rarely took any great interest in it. However, it was the belief of Gangabai Bhutt that whoever saw the drama would find fulfilment in life.
The people of Delhi continued to come to Bhutt’s house for Shri Nathji’s darshan and his divinity began manifesting himself in diverse ways, through the magic of his words, through miracles, and through the sheer divine touch he gave to the people in a single glance.
The state of devotion of the devotees of Shri Nathji was expressed beautifully by Sri Krishen Khanna, the elder brother of Mateshwari who wrote to Shri Nathji on December 20, 1949 at the Bhutts’ place:
“All that I ask of Thee is that I should think only of Thee, and meditate only upon Thee, for the rest of my life. My greatest ambition in life is to live with Thee and to serve Thee with my own hands.”
Shri Nathji’s Urdu verses described the state of such devotees:

Tere aashik gair ke deedaar ke taalib naheen
Goyaa ye paimaanaye agyaar ke taalib naheen

Thy lovers seek to see no one else except Thee
They seek to drink from no other cup except Thine!

Khastaahaali kaa gilaa apnaa naheen karte hain vo,
Teri hee ulfat kaa duniyaan men bas dam bharte hain vo

They complain not of their state of want before anyone,
They live only upon the sighs of their Love for Thee

Lala Hargopal Khanna wanted Shri Nathji and Mateshwari and the children to come and spend some time with him, as he had moved to a new house allotted to him by the government in lieu of the property he had lost at Lahore.
The house was newly constructed and its number was:  4/20 East Patel Nagar, New Delhi. Shri Nathji consented, and shifted there in January 1950
