Shri Nathji frequently warned people of the evil tendencies lurking within their minds. He would relate the words of a Mahatma who was asked:
Mahatmaji, is your Shaitan-Satan-still alive within you? Aapkaa Shaitaan zindaa hai?
The Mahatma said:
Every time I think of him, I run a fever from the fear!”
“Mujhe to maare dar ke bukhaar charrhaa raihtaa hai!”
“For, if I were to slip and fall from the height I have attained, all my bones would be shattered. Jis oonchaayi par main hoon agar main giraa to meri to haddi pasli naheen bachegi!
“Those who fall from lesser heights sustain lesser injuries! So-I must be a millonfold more cautious!
The mahatma was then asked: But does Satan ever attack you? Vo aap par kabhee vaar bhee kartaa hai ?
And the mahatma replied: Vo to naheen kartaa. No, he does not. And that is because I remain within the circle of the light of God. He tempts me to come out of that circle with various temptations and I reply by saying:
‘Thank you, but I am not allowed to come out of this circle of light! Mujhe baahar jaane ki ijaazat naheen hai!’
When he becomes insistent, then I invite him to enter within the circle of light, but he replies: ‘I am not allowed to enter within! Mujhe andar aane ki ijaazat naheen hai!’”
