Shri Nathji and Priya Nath agree that the 24th of June 1984 would be appropriate for the World Prayer Day because it was a Sunday, and all the people of the world would be free to gather together in their places of worship. Priya Nath had at first wanted the 23rd of June to be the World Prayer Day, and in later days ensured that it be so.
