There was news from Mussoorie in 1968 that the Standard Skating Rink, which had existed on the Mall Road below Shri Nathji’s residence, Savitri Nivas, had burnt down. There was an Art Gallery in the building which contained a beautiful life-size wooden cut-out portrait of Shri Nathji. When the ashes and rubble were cleared after the burning of the building, Shri Nathji’s painting was found – untouched by the fire! It was one of the greatest miracles in the life of the Artist, Shri Roop Kishore, who had made the painting. In later days, he brought the painting to Shri Nathji and gave it to him, recounting the miracle. Shri Nathji said to him with his characteristic humility: “How could my painting have been burnt when your good wishes were with me!”
