Shri Nathji recounts the story of the Rani of a State known as Mandi close to Lucknow. She was also known as the ‘Chashme wali mata’ because of the spectacles she wore. She first saw Shri Nathji in one of his public lectures at Lucknow. “Ye yathaa maam prapyadante tanstathaiv bijaaamiham“No matter which path a man may choose to come to meIn the days that followed, she began to live with Shri Nathji at Dehra Dun and called herself his “mother”. “Ever since you have stopped quarrelling with me I have fallen ill!”In later days, when Shri Nathji was on tour, she went to live at her State, and would always keep Shri Nathji’s portrait with herself, fanning it in the summers and covering it with a quilt during the winters.“Chashme Vaali ye kaih gayi thheen ke jab Shri Nathji aayen to unhen kaih denaa main mukt hokar jaa rahi hoon!“Chashme Vali left behind a message– ‘When Shri Nathji comes, tell him that I am going after having attained salvation!”After Shri Nathji has narrated this interesting episode to Mangla, he cheers her up and asks her to get well immediately:“Bas, ab jaldi ttheek ho jaao!”
