To make matters worse, Shri Nathji’s right eye develops unbearable pain. This was the one with the unoperated hypermature cataract. It had developed a severe pain in 1982, when Priya Nath had called Dr, Hari Mohan, who had said said that it would require an operation, but that Shri Nathji could wait and watch for the symptoms. At that time the pain had subsided by itself. Its recurrence now in June 1987 was alarming. Shri Nathji was now too weak to undergo an eye operation.“O Lord! Why these torments on your gentle, delicate physical frame! O Lord! Help! Please help! I cannot bear it!” This was the plaintive cry within Priya Nath’s heart, and which he recorded in his daily diaries of the time. Shri Nathji, on the other hand, bore the pain very bravely in silence, and refused to call a doctor.
