As the medicines cause Shri Nathji to become weaker and weaker – especially the Biduret Diuretic and Sorbitrate – and Craetegus Q – Shashi Ramesh telephones from Jaipur, saying to Priya Nath:“Don’t give any medicines to Shri Nathji! He is God Himself and will cure His own Self!”Priya Nath knows clearly that Shri Nathji will never cure Himself and will suffer for the sake of humanity, but Priya Nath must continue doing his duty which is to give medicines and call doctors whenever necessary. Indeed, this was the difference between Priya Nath and the devotees. The devotees were seldom worried about Shri Nathji’s illnesses as they were convinced that he would cure himself, and they even went so far as to suggest that the medicines be given up. However Priya Nath could not even in his wildest imagination have denied Shri Nathji vital drugs. He could not afford to take the risk. He was also aware of what Shri Nathji had said about prayer and medicine:“Davaa aur duaa, donon honen chahiyen!Shri Nathji would never perform a superhuman feat for himself and carry on without medicines. If he alleviated his suffering it was only for the sake of Priya Nath. When he saw that Priya Nath was acutely distressed and could not bear to see him suffer any longer, Shri Nathji had to act and perform a small miracle for his sake.
