Shri Nathji also began a parable about a king who went into the forest and came to a very fertile land. He wished to halt there for a while and to satiate his thirst. He called the farmer who owned the land and asked for something to drink. The farmer brought pomegranate juice for the king. The king drank the pomegranate juice and then said to himself:“What a fine produce of pomegranates comes from this land. I must raise the taxes on this farmer!”The king then asked for another glass of pomegranate juice. The farmer brought it–but only after a very long time!“Oof!” said Shri Nathji during the narration of the parable, “this is the gratitude of the people of the world! The king wished to raise the taxes of the poor farmer in return for the hospitality he had offered him!”
