For Shri Nathji food was a necessity he had imposed upon himself. He had once said:“Agar main bilkul na khaaoon, bilkul na peeyoon, – to log to dar hi jaayen, ke ye kaisee aadmi hai! Ye to aadmi hi naheen hai! Jab manushye roop liya hai to khaana peena, bhook, pyaas, sab usme shaamil hain!“If I did not eat or drink at all – people would become afraid and say, what kind of a man is he? He is not even a man! When I have taken a human body, I must allow for hunger, thirst, food and water!”However, Shri Nathji also used to say:“Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God!”Shri Nathji often praised the Christian prayer in which it had been written: “O Lord give me my daily bread!”Shri Nathji would say: “Christianity “This prayer of the Christians is even recited by their Kings and Emperors. One may well ask, what need has a King to pray for bread? The answer is that the significance of the prayer is: ‘O Lord! This world belongs to Thee! Thou hast given us this Kingdom. Give us but a loaf of Bread from Thy gift.”Shri Nathji would often say:“Happy is the person who does all his works in the world, taking them to be tasks allotted by God, and who accepts everything that comes his way as a gift from God!”Shri Nathji’s famous verse from His book, ““Deedaye zaahir men mere ye jahaan bastaa rahe,“Let the world remain before my eyes to see,This should be the voice of man who lives in God’s world, keeping God within His heart all the time.
