Shri Nathji is complaining of itching on His feet from the new woollen socks he is wearing. He is in his green sweater, sitting bare-headed in bed, telling Priya Nath in a very sweet tone:“Pet aaj bahut hi achhaa huaa hai!“The stomach is very good today!”He is inclined to walk in the big room after two days of total inactivity. He has on his yellow head kerchief frequently these days – and insists that the mysterious aches and pains all over His body have miraculously disappeared! “Christ ki“The crucifixion of Christ was but for a few hours only – but I have been on the cross all my life! I am sitting on a throne of Fire!”Mrs. Gangabai Bhutt, the wife of Chief Justice Bhutt, had often said: “If one can cure another person without taking his illness upon himself, it is not a great feat. But if one has to take another person’s illness upon himself in order to cure him, no one would be willing to do so. If anyone were to offer me the throne of God on this condition, I would refuse! The pain and suffering would be too much for me to endure. “Shri Nathji has done this all his life, because He is God Himself. No human being would accept such a condition!”When Shri Nathji had seriously injured his arm in 1943, the 2nd World War was going on, and troops were returning from the front with injured, broken limbs. It appeared as if Shri Nathji had taken upon his own arm the wounds that humanity was inflicting upon itself. He remained in acute unbearable pain for two years thereafter till the war came to an end.Chief Justice Bhutt had once written to Shri Nathji:“Prabhuji, aapne jo apne baazoo par kasht liyaa hai vo ‘leela’ mujhse dekhi naheen jaati. Magar agar aapne iss ‘leela’ ko karnaa hi hai to meri aapse praarthnaa hai ke mere donon baazoo torr den – aur apnaa ttheek kar len!“Prabhuji, I cannot bear to see thy ‘Shri Nathji would never tire of speaking of the love and affection of Bhutt for him, and would endlessly quote these words of Bhutt in many of his sermons. Indeed it was only Shri Nathji who could remember the slightest sentences that anyone had ever uttered out of faith and devotion for him.
