Shri Nathji’s Blood Pressure is causing Priya Nath extreme worry as it is anywhere from 220/60 to 230/60 and his pulse is highly irregular. The fluid output is very low, but Shri Nathji dismisses this by saying He has not drunk adequate fluids:“Peeyaa bhee to kuchh naheen!”He writes ghazals and sings loudly in bed for a few minutes, while Priya Nath worries over the Blood Pressure. Again, the doctors, when consulted over the telephone, are of divided opinion – some say the diuretic dose must be on alternate days, another says that Nifedipine be increased only. There are no signs of water retention – either in the feet or in the back!”Shri Nathji refers to the coming New Year’s Eve on the morrow and says to Priya Nath:“Kal to khush hi raihna hai, chaahe kuchh bhee ho!“We must remain cheerful tomorrow no matter what happens!”But Priya Nath had persisted with gloomy thoughts, telling Shri Nathji he could not remain happy artificially. “Hamen naye saal ki greatest gift aapki health hai!“The greatest gift of the New Year is your good health!”Shri Nathji pats Priya Nath on his head and says again: “Main ne to promise kiyaa huaa hai 120 saal tak jeene kaa!“I have promised to live up to the age of 120 years!”Shri Nathji also says:“Naye saal ke din to kissee“No doctor should be called on New Year’s Day!”
