One great event of April 5, 1992 was the sudden cleaning of Shri Nathji’s life-size wooden cut-out painting made in 1959 or so by Mussoorie’s greatest artist, Shri Roop Kishore. Priya Nath had accidentally applied a wet towel to it and discovered that the paint shone brighter than ever before – almost as if it were new. Later Mangla had begun to apply a wet cloth dipped in ‘Surf’ detergent – and the results were marvelous to behold. Shri Nathji sat in the big room watching this cleaning with great interest and applauding every now and then, saying:“Wah! Wah!When the entire portrait was shining like new, Shri Nathji said:“Mahamateshwari dekh kar kitnee prasanna ho rahi hain ke unkee beti Mangla ne kitnee acchee tarah unki –Prabhuji ki – tasveer ko chamkaayaa hai!“How happy Mahamateshwari is today on seeing her daughter, Mangla, cleaning Prabhuji’s portrait, making it shine!”This was the portrait that had lain in Roop Kishore’s “How could the portrait have caught fire when your good wishes were with me!”Indeed Shri Nathji was so good that he never praised himself but always gave credit to others, even for the miracles that he had performed himself.“Aaj Piyaji, neend naheen aayi?“Piyaji, haven’t you slept yet?”The ceiling fan makes Shri Nathji feel cold and he says:“Pankhaa chal rahaa hai.“The ceiling fan is on.”And Priya Nath asks Him:“Tthandd lag rahee haiHe replies:“Aise hee thhorri si lag rahee thhee!”“Just a little bit!”Shri Nathji also recollects Lalvani, the Sindhi, who had come for His darshan a few days ago, and asks Priya Nath: “Vo Sindhi nayeen phir aayaa?“Did that Sindhi come again?”Shri Nathji gently asks Priya Nath to put the celing fan off, if he is not feeling hot:“Garmi lag na rahee ho to pankhaa band na kar den?”Priya Nath shuts off the fan, worried again about the poor output. Shri Nathji tries to sleep on His right, with His back to Priya Nath. He has His red sweater and woollen cap on, even in the warm weather.
