As February progresses, Shri Nathji has to ward off a severe cold and fever. He has repeated bouts of sneezing, which appear shattering to Priya Nath and He has a constantly running nose. “Ye to kuchh bhee naheen hai!Shri Nathji had earlier been reading about Queen Elizabeth II of England in the Reader’s Digest and wanted to send a letter to her to bless her. He had even asked Priya Nath to place a white sheet of paper on his bed. “Piyaji, so jaao aap bhee!“Piyaji, you, too, should go to sleep!”Referring to the cold, Shri Nathji says:“Lagtaa hai “It appears as if the cold is coming under control.”Shri Nathji removes the quilt from His face and wraps a muffler around his face and head–a white, woollen muffler, and asks about the gloves: “Abhee to dastaane nikaale thhe!”Shri Nathji begins to feel hot and soon begins to sweat in the over-heated room. Shri Nathji has some respite from the sneezing and running nose and says:“Lagtaa hai hat rahaa hai zukaam.“It appears as if the cold is going away.”At 5:25 am there is Shri Nathji singing a ghazal very loudly–a ghazal which he had written and sung earlier, and which ended with the words: “Jalvaa haa aane lagePriya Nath knows Shri Nathji is singing only for his sake to let him know that He is well. Shri Nathji is wearing brown woollen gloves as he lies in bed. “Vaise to garmi lag rahi hai–khud kaisaa lag rahaa hai? Garmi lag rahi hai? Mujhe to bahut hi garmi lag rahi hai!“I’m feeling fairly hot, otherwise. How are you feeling? Are you feeling hot? I am feeling very hot.”“Vo bahut hiSays Shri Nathji, referring to the manner in which he removes His woollens in the mornings for the daily weighing:“Iss vakt to utthnaa bhee naheen chahiye. Tthand lag jaayegi. Paseenaa aayaa huaa hai.“I must not get up at this time. I can catch a chill. I am full of perspiration.”Shri Nathji, is, indeed, wet with perspiration, as He adds:“Paseene se bharaa huaa hai “The body is full of perspiration.” To make matters worse, Shri Nathji has to get up for repeated micturition, which too can result in a serious chill. Priya Nath keeps on praying and praying desperately to Shri Nathji, and measures His pulse rate every now and then – until it comes to 64 which is normal! He thanks God that the fever has broken. There is no irregularity in the pulse, and it is absolutely normal. “Haan bahut achhi tabeeyat hai! “I am feeling very well.”It is sheer Heaven for Priya Nath to see Shri Nathji suddenly rejuvenated and taking tea and biscuits – and later even undergoing the gruelling weighing ceremony with great energy. The weight is still touching 41.5 kg.
