Back at home, Shri Nathji sits amongst the home group and gives a long sermon on Chashme Vaali Maataa–the Maharani who saw Shri Nathji in a hall during his sermon and who came to Shri Nathji the next day bringing toys with her! This was in the 1930’s. Ye yathhaa maam prapyadante tanstathaiv bijhaamihanNo matter what path a man may choose to come to meShe regarded Shri Nathji as God Incarnate upon earth right up to the last moments of her life. She had been the unhappiest woman upon earth because of the weight of misery imposed upon her by the circumstances of life. Her husband had left the world, and her five sons had died one after another, her daughter had also died. Her ministers were exploiting the old lady. “Go and burn my State for all I care!” she would say. “Jab Nathji aayen to unhen kaih denaa ke main mukt hokar jaa rahi hoon!“When Shri Nathji comes tell him I have attained salvation!”Shri Nathji immediately went to her State to offer his condolences. As he entered the gates of the Maharani’s Palace, the Persian verse echoed in his mind:Kashishe ke ishq daarad naa guzaar datt badeensaanThe attractions of the world will not let Thee come my way,Chashme Vaali Maataa became immortal in Shri Nathji’s sermons and recollections. On the spiritual plane she attained salvation even as her soul merged into the Universal Soul of Shri Nathji.
