Shri Nathji frequently spoke of Shri Ramesh Chandra who had been a Chief Engineer and Secretary to the Government of Assam before he retired. He had come to Shri Nathji in 1959 at Allahabad, at a time when his wife had died and he had been rendered invalid from the shock. The doctors had given up all hopes of curing him. A friend of his, Dr. Sinha, had brought Ramesh Chandra to Shri Nathji. “Kaheen gharoor to naheen aa gayaa ke main chief engineer hokar jhaaroo lagaa rahaa hoon? Mujhe teen saal ho gaye hain aapke dil men jhaaroo lagaate!“I hope pride has not crossed your mind that you, being a chief engineer, are sweeping the floor of my house with a jhaaroo-broom! I have been sweeping your heart for the past three years now!”Shri Nathji’s ghazal writing continues assiduously, more ardently than ever before, even while he meets people the whole day long.
