On November 3, 1983, there is Shri Nathji sitting in the big room, his back to the window and writing in the sunlight. Amongst his ghazals there is a fantastic poem that surpasses every other description of Shri Nathji:In baadaa haaye Ishq se paimaanaa jal gayaaThe wine of Thy Love set to fire the cup,Priya Nath is so thrilled by the ghazal that he composes a tune to it on the piano and records the ghazal in his voice. The moment Shri Nathji listens to the ghazal he is transported into a world of divine bliss and ecstasy, and embraces Priya Nath, patting him repeatedly on his back and saying:“Piyaji, ye“This is the best tune composed till now!”“Piyaji, Diwali par “Piyaji, let us arrange for a programme of ghazals on this coming Diwali at Sapru House! This voice must go out to the public! It is a Divine Voice!”
