There is a pleasant surprise as Shri Amir Chand Ahuja, the old devotee of Shri Nathji since the days of Lahore, comes for his darshan. He lives at Kirti Nagar, and has brought with him a Qaatib, an Urdu script writer, whose name is Hem Raj. “Babaji mere andar samaa gaye hain. Main kissee ke paas naheen jaataa. Mandir, sadhu, mahatma, vaghaira – kaheen bhee vo cheez maine naheen paayi, jo Babaji se paayi!“Babaji has entered my being. I do not go anywhere. Temples, and holy men etc., do not have what Shri Babaji had to give. Nowhere have I obtained that bliss which I obtained from Shri Babaji Maharaj!”Amir Chand Ahuja is very glad that he has brought about this union between Hem Raj and Shri Nathji. He says to Shri Nathji:“Aapki khoyi huyi cheez aapko vaapas karne aayaa hoon!“ I can never forget how you picked up the cob of the corn which I had thrown away at Kahkeshan in Mussoorie, in 1937, and how you took it home with yourself and preserved it for years.”Hem Raj recounts some of the things that Shri Babaji Maharaj used to say to him:“Aap oopar seerrhee par aa gaye ho – ab neeche naheen jaanaa! “You have climbed up the staircase – you must not go down now.”Hem Raj recounted how Shri Babaji had commented on the state of his own Realisation:“Ye sab se oonchi manzil hai, aur sab se neechi! Aur iskaa mukaablaa bhee naheen hai! Iske baraabar doosri bhee naheen hai!“This stage is the highest, and at the same time it is the lowest! There is no stage that may compare with it–and none that may equal it!”Shri Nathji embraces Hem Raj before parting from him and gives him four apples and a pomegranate as prasaad. The man invites Shri Nathji to his home in Delhi–it is a promise that Shri Nathji is not able to keep as the years pass. Shri Nathji thinks of having his ghazals transcribed by Hem Raj but the idea is soon forgotten.Zaahir hai nigaahon se sad gardishe paimaanaThe sight beholds hundreds of cups in motionThere is a powerful satsang that night in which Shri Nathji’s prophetic ghazal is played, which signalled the going away of the age of war:Badle hai koyi aan men ab range zamaanaaSomeone is going to change the world in a trice,It was a ghazal that was to change the Face of a world, which was confronted with certain destruction from a nuclear war at the time.
