Though Shri Nathji had many devotees who lived with him for various lengths of time and served him after the going away of Sardar Basant Singh in 1947, he was never so comfortable with anyone as he was with his loyal attendant and devotee, Shri Shyam Lal Kasera who had become Shri Nathji’s “pen”.“Ham kuchh bhee ban jaayen magar Shyam Lal naheen ban sakte!Shyam Lal’s devotion to Shri Nathji spanned a period of thirty years from 1932 till 1961. “Shyamji! Shyamji!”Even as Shyam Lal mingled into the eternal invisible form of his Lord and Master, with the name of his beloved “Nathji” on his lips, there was the verse of Shri Nathji:Tum mere paas hote ho, goyaa,Thou art with me, when–It was in 1983 that the wife of Shyam Lal Kasera, Ratni, came for Shri Nathji’s darshan at Delhi along with her son, Mohan.
