Devotees of Jai Shanker Bajpai arrive from Allahabad. Bajpai and his wife had been devotees of Shri Nathji at Allahabad but had later embarked upon a course of self-worship using the name of Shri Nathji, despite Shri Nathji’s warnings to the contrary. Bajpai had declared himself to be the principal devotee of Shri Nathji, and at times even called himself Shri Nathji’s son. His wife had even called herself Mateshwari. He had opened an Ishwar Prem Sabha, which was the Divine Love Society of Shri Nathji with his principles of Love, Faith and Service, and amassed wealth and properties in different cities of the country without Shri Nathji’s knowledge. Very soon he began calling himself Sadguru, and transferred all worship to himself and his wife. Having used Shri Nathji’s name as a stepping-stone, he began ignoring Shri Nathji’s warning that this was not the correct path for a devotee.“Main kissee ko sazaa naheen detaa, magar mujhe dar aataa hai uss aadmi ke liye, kyonki Kudrat kaa“I never punish anybody. But I am afraid for the man, because of the law of Nature, that does not spare anyone!”Shri Nathji had often said:“Who sows must reap they say,The devotees of Bajpai prostrate before Shri Nathji and tell him that they have been worshipping Bajpai as Sant Ishwar Prem and his wife as Krishna Mata, but they had received neither any enlightenment nor any relief from their worldly troubles. ‘Bajpai! Tum kuchh naheen! Main kuchh naheen! Jo kuchh hain sab Nathji hain!’“Bajpai! You are nothing! I am nothing! Shri Nathji alone is everything!”Bajpai had been projecting his son before the public as Sant Vishva Prem, but the fates had decreed otherwise, and saved the young man from destroying his soul on the path of self-worship.“Nathji! Bardaasht kee taakat den!“Nathji! Give us the strength to bear the loss!”And Bajpai said to Shri Nathji: “From now on I shall do whatever is thy will!”Shri Nathji raised his hands in a gesture of blessing even as they departed. He was in a sorrowful mood the entire day, saying repeatedly to Priya Nath:“This world is a cup of gold full of scorpions! It is like a golden flame that allures you to itself. When you put your hand in it, you discover that it is not gold but fire.”Shri Nathji also said:“What shall it profit a man if he gaineth the whole world but loses his own soul!”Indeed these were sad days for Shri Nathji. He could well understand the sorrows of his fellow-men upon earth. For several days the effect of this sorrow remained upon him and he was not his usual jubilant self.
