In September 1984 the leave-taking from Mussoorie was very emotional. Shri Nathji, whose health had improved to the extent that he was climbing the staircase in the house daily, climbed the staircase for the last time. He had a last look at the bedroom he and Mahamateshwari had occupied in the years past, and then came down the staircase, never to go up again.“Tavangaron ko mubaarik hai vo shamaa kaafoori“The rich are welcome to their lamps of perfumeThe chowkidar, who was to be left alone to look after the house at Mussoorie, a certain Gajaraj Shukla, bursts out into tears at the thought of Shri Nathji’s departure, so overwhelmed had he become by Shri Nathji’s love, and his divine words. “When the plane carrying Shri Nathji took off, I felt as if my very soul had flown away!”There was a portrait of Shri Nathji in the Cottage. Gajanan, who had in the past been caretaker of the house, had said: “I lived here all these years with this photo of Shri Nathji as the solace and comfort of my life.”Shri Nathji spent all his time in the Cottage talking to the Urhekars and did not get to see the rooms of the Cottage which he and Mahamateshwari had very loving constructed in 1948.“Sire, you do not belong to this wretched world. You have come from another world. Why did a Being like you come into this world of the wicked?”“Aap to dev-lok ki moorti hain! Aapko kyaa zaroorat thhee iss gandi duniyaan men aane ki!”Shri Nathji had discovered three sarees and three silver rings amongst the articles of Mahamateshwari at Savitri Nivas, and he gave them to Usha, Sudha and Mangla.
