Shri Nathji had a great love for agnostics and atheists. His impact upon them was astonishing. As a Catholic Friar was to say, years later, in London: He has the spiritual power of breaking up atheists.
Shri Nathji regarded agnostics and atheists as honest men–people who did not believe because they did not know. This was in sharp contrast to believers and religionists who believed in God in theory only, but betrayed His tenets in practice.
Shri Nathji was fond of narrating the parable of the mother whose son had not yet returned home for the night. She would keep her door open and wait for the last one to return. And she would sleep in peace only after all had returned. For Shri Nathji, everyone meant even agnostics and atheists.
