It was 1929. Shri Nathji had come to Mussoorie for the summer. It was a novel sight for the people of Mussoorie to see Shri Nathji walking on the Mall, dressed in an achkan and chooridars and well-polished shoes, and an orange turban on his head, accompanied by his younger brother who would invariably be dressed in a western three piece suit, sometimes with leggings and full boots. People mistook them for princes belonging to some royal family.
Shri Nathji stayed first at the Mandir at Landaur and then shifted to a place near Himalaya Club. In subsequent times he stayed at a house on the Mall Road and later at Roxy building in the Kulri area of Mussoorie.
While Shri Nathji was at the house near Himalaya Club, a certain Professor Wali Muhammad, who was a professor of music at Kapurthala State, became greatly devoted to Shri Nathji. His faith was enhanced by the many experiences he had begun to have in life after he had met Shri Nathji.
