One day Istafa Khan met Shri Nathji accidently on the Mall, below Roselyn Estate, in front of the Majestic Cinema Theatre.  His peer, who was with him, introduced Istafa Khan to Shri Nathji.
Istafa Khan fell in love with Shri Nathji at first sight. The moment he set eyes upon the divinely beautiful personality of Shri Nathji and listened to his words, a spiritual spark lit up in his soul and he knew all of a sudden that he had found his Eternal Friend.
He said to Shri Nathji:
Maloom hotaa hai aap voh hain jinse nibh jaayegi.
It appears that you are one with whom an enduring relationship will be established.

Istafa Khan’s spiritual preceptor, his peer, was astonished to see this sudden transformation in his friend. As the days passed, Istafa Khan’s devotion to Shri Nathji became so great that he would not leave the side of Shri Nathji for even a moment. He became like a moth that flew around the spiritual flame of Shri Nathji.
He would come for Shri Nathji’s deedaar, and never lose an occasion to walk on the Mall Road with him, and to listen to his honeyed words full of the nectar of life.
Shri Nathji’s Urdu and Persian was such as to amaze the greatest of scholars in the language. Shri Nathji’s verses touched the heart and soul of Istafa Khan who was a great poet himself. Istafa Khan found himself drawn into a world of divine bliss which centered around Shri Nathji. He found in Shri Nathji the fulfilment of a long spiritual quest.
It was a common sight to see Istafa Khan walking by the side of a suave, majestic, extremely beautiful Shri Nathji, radiating his spiritual light to the world.
