The time was the early 1930’s. Shri Nathji had a minor stomach complaint in Lucknow one day, when he was staying with R. R. Khanna. The latter, who thought of nothing but the best for Shri Nathji, immediately brought General Saprossan of the Lucknow Medical College. The doctor examined Shri Nathji and made out a prescription.  He was about to leave, when Khanna turned to Shri Nathji and said:
Huzoor, surely he deserves a fee.
What fee does he want? said Shri Nathji.
His daughter has been an invalid for about thirteen years.  She is in a hospital in Switzerland now. She can neither get up nor walk.  I must ask you to send your blessings to her.
Shri Nathji said a few words of consolation to General Saprossan, and then gave him cardamoms as prasaad.
Send these to your daughter in Switzerland, said Khanna to General Saprossan.
Is there anything she must read or say, when she takes the cardamoms? said General Saprossan.
No, said Shri Nathji, the name of God is enough.
General Saprossan sent the cardamoms to his daughter. Many months later, Khanna received a letter fromGeneral Saprossan in which he wrote that his daughter had recovered completely. An operation had been discovered that ultimately cured her.
It was the operation that cured her, Shri Nathji said to Khanna.
Huzoor, please don’t hide everything you do, said R. R. Khanna, why was she not cured by an operation prior to your sending the prasaad? The operation was only a means which you used to cure her.
