Shri Nathji would always be seen wearing a new achkan, which had been especially tailored for the occasion. Mateshwari, despite the financial constraints, would ensure that all of Shri Nathji’s clothes were made by the best of tailors. The British firm of Ranken and Company was chosen became they knew Shri Nathji well over the years and usually sent their bills after months.
Lilaram of Lahore and Trevillion and Clark of Mussoorie were the other tailors who made achkans for Shri Nathji.
Even while living in the jungle of Camel’s Back Road at Shadi Bhavan, Shri Nathji was so punctilious about his achkans that samples of cloth had been called for from Ranken Co before the final selection of the birthday achkan was made.
Shri Nathji had princely tastes, and would dress himself well, so that his devotees would be pleased. More than anything else, he dressed well and immaculately to please Mateshwari.
