While Shri Nathji was in Lahore he met a very poor clerk, Bhagat Ram, by name, who recognized his real Divine Form, and became greatly devoted to him. He was one of the most loyal of Shri Nathji’s devotees in the Punjab. When Shri Nathji was married some years later in 1939, Shri Bhagat Ram took an important part in the celeberation of the marriage. His was a faith that nothing could shake–neither suffering, nor illness, nor even death.
His loud cry would ring out at the end of Shri Nathji’s sermons:
Jo bole so sarshaar
Shri Nathji Nishkalank Avatar!
Blissful shall be he, who cries out
‘Shri Nathji is the Nishkalank Avatar!’
His one prayer to Shri Nathji would be: Daridra Naraayana ko door karo! Remove the God of Poverty from the earth!
He would write Punjabi poetry in praise of Shri Nathji and Shri Babaji Maharaj, and compose hymns and ghazals in Urdu and sing these in the darbaar.
When Mrs. Khera, who had left her husband as well as Shri Nathji’s darbaar, and had become the disciple of some mahatma, met Shri Bhagat Ram and said: I have left the B. A. and joined the M. A., Shri Bhagat Ram responded by saying: Now you can return to Shri Nathji’s darbaar when you want the Ph.D!
Those who left Shri Nathji’s darbaar were in fact not worthy of him; they were like the flies that could not stay around a flame. Whatever virtues in their lives had brought them to Shri Nathji were exhausted soon enough and the law of Nature made them leave.
He who leaves Truth, Shri Nathji would say, must of necessity go towards untruth!
For Bhagat Ram, there was nothing above and beyond Shri Nathji. He moved to Delhi, in 1947, after partition, and passed away peacefully, many years later, with Shri Nathji’s name on his lips.
He had always called Shri Nathji, Emperor of the spiritual World. And this was a realisation that had come to him from the depths of his heart and soul.
Indeed Shri Babaji Maharaj had stated in his Divine Prophecy of May 18, 1926, that even though Shri Nathji would call himself, Ghulam Rue Zameen, the Servant of the Earth, he was in fact, the Emperor of the World, God Incarnate Himself come down to earth for the salvation of mankind.
